Summer Greetings Retiree Chapter Members,
Due to the continuing spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic Variants, we sincerely hope that all of our Members have gotten all of the free COVID Vaccination Shots offered, including 2 Booster shots recommended by the CDC, and the Illinois Department Of Public Health. With that said, our Retiree’s Local is continuing the “No In Person” Retiree’s Chapter Membership meetings until further Notice. Since Senior Retiree’s are the most vulnerable to COVID Illness, being Hospitalized, or actually dying from contracting the deadly COVID Virus, we believe it is better to be safe, than sorry.
Retiree’s Chapter Membership Report: As of May 2022, our Retiree’s Chapter has 109 Due’s paying Members. 95 who have $3.00 per month automatically deducted from their Postal Service Retirement Checks, nine $36.00 per year cash paying Members, two full dues paying Union Officers who pay $3.00 per month via OPM, two OPM deducted once per year, and one cash paying Full dues & $3.00 deducted by OPM. Our Retiree’s Chapter also has a grand total of 16 Members who were suspended, for not paying their yearly $36.00 cash payment for over two years. And finally, the most disturbing news, Our Retiree’s Local has well over 500 Listed Non-Dues Paying Retiree Members, who Retired as dues paying Members in the past 12 years, but failed to join our Retiree’s Chapter for $3.00 per Month. Our Retiree’s Chapter needs your help. If you know Former Co-worker friends or Family who Got a watch when they Retired from APWU Northwest Illinois Area Local-7140, ask them are they a Retiree’s Chapter dues paying Member. APWU Retiree’s Members Zoom Meetings, Training, Seminars, Conferences & Events: During the past two years of the COVID Pandemic, the APWU Retiree’s Department, at the National Level, has communicated with our entire over 31,000 Dues paying Retiree Membership thru “Zoom communication Services.” All dues paying Retiree Members can go to APWU.org, and use their membership ID to sign in to the Retiree’s Members Only Page. Thank You Retiree’s Director Nancy Olumekor, for providing Zoom Training, Seminars, Conferences & Events for our Retiree Membership.
APWU National Retiree’s Conference August 13 & August 14, 2022: The Conference, will be held at the Gaylord National Harbor & Resort Center, in the Washington D.C. Suburb of Oxon Hill MD. Although all Hotels are booked, The Retiree’s Department is still offering a Zoom Registration at APWU.org.
APWU National Convention August 15, thru August 18, 2022 : The in person Convention is sold out, but Registration for Zoom scheduled events, is still available to Members at APWU.org.
A final Summer Note: The National APWU Election Ballots are coming this fall. All active Dues paying Retiree Members, will receive a Ballot this fall to Vote. Our Northwest Illinois Retiree’s Chapter proudly endorses Nancy Olumekor, to remain as our National Retiree’s Director.
